Service Description
Evolved Q Grader Program Hook: Six days. The most demanding qualification in coffee. Taught by someone who holds it. Who it's for: Green buyers, quality managers, roasters, exporters and importers whose work depends on being believed when they assess a coffee. There are no formal prerequisites, but this is not a starting point — prior experience with Coffee Value Assessment, cupping and green coffee evaluation is strongly recommended, and candidates who arrive without it rarely enjoy the week. What you'll do: Six full days and forty-eight hours of instruction, built around the Coffee Value Assessment, culminating in the examination series that certifies you as a Q Grader. It is an intensive, unglamorous, exhilarating week: sensory calibration tested against a standard rather than against your own confidence, green grading, triangulations, and the repeated discovery of exactly where your palate is unreliable. Those who pass join a small international community of certified graders whose assessments are recognised throughout the trade. What you leave with: either the credential, or a precise map of what to work on before you try again. Both are worth the week. Logistics Duration: 6 days, minimum 48 hours of instruction Prerequisites: none required. Prior experience with Coffee Value Assessment, cupping and sensory assessment, and green coffee evaluation strongly recommended. Class size: 6–24 learners. A minimum of six is required for the course to run, so that descriptive assessment results are meaningful. Assessment: the Q Grader examination series Certificate: Q Grader certification Price: TBC Not currently scheduled — stay tuned!
