Service Description
Barista Skills — Foundation Hook: The first real day of your career behind the bar. Who it's for: New and aspiring baristas, and café owners who want to know what good looks like. No prior experience needed, though Introduction to Coffee makes a useful companion. What you'll do: A full day on the machine, learning the skills the job actually rests on: setting a grinder and understanding why the setting matters, pulling espresso and recognising when it has gone wrong, and texturing milk to the standard a cappuccino requires. Alongside the practical work you'll cover the health and safety habits that keep a bar running, water quality and its effect on your machine, the daily cleaning routine, and the service standards that keep customers returning. This is a hands-on day — you will spend far more of it holding a portafilter than sitting down. Logistics Duration: 1 day — SCA minimum 7 hours; Tuck Shop teaches 7–8 hours Level: Foundation Prerequisites: none (Introduction to Coffee recommended) Assessment: 20-question written exam, 22 minutes, 60% to pass. No practical exam, but your instructor completes a Course Skills Report on your practical work, which you'll discuss together and take away. Certificate: SCA Barista Skills Foundation Class size: up to 8 · Price: $600
