Service Description

Brewing — Foundation Hook: Every brewer in the room, and the principles that govern all of them. Who it's for: Baristas responsible for filter coffee, café staff running batch brew, and home enthusiasts who own four brewers and suspect they are using none of them well. What you'll do: A hands-on day across a range of devices — automatic batch brewers, manual gravity brewers, and whatever else is in common use locally — learning not just how to operate each one but what they have in common. You'll work through the essential elements of brewing, brew several coffees, taste them side by side, and learn to analyse the result and trace it back to a decision you made. The point is transferable judgement: once you understand why a brew tastes as it does, an unfamiliar brewer stops being intimidating. Logistics Duration: 1 day — SCA minimum 7 hours; Tuck Shop teaches 7–8 hours Level: Foundation Prerequisites: none (Introduction to Coffee recommended) Assessment: 30-question written exam, 32 minutes, 60% to pass. No practical exam, but your instructor completes a Course Skills Report on your practical work. Certificate: SCA Brewing Foundation Class size: up to 8 · Price: $550
