Service Description
Brewing — Intermediate Hook: Where brewing becomes measurable. Who it's for: Anyone with brewing experience who wants to stop guessing. Particularly useful for café staff responsible for filter quality and for roasters developing brew recommendations. What you'll do: Two days taking the brewing process apart — the device, the order of extraction, the wetting of the bed — and then rebuilding it around measurement. You'll learn the scientific method of measuring and charting coffee strength and extraction, and how to read the resulting picture rather than merely produce it. From there the work is diagnostic: taste a brew, place it, decide what to change, change it, taste again. The course also covers the cleaning and maintenance regime that quality silently depends on. Logistics Duration: 2 days — SCA minimum 14 hours including practical exam; Tuck Shop teaches 14–16 hours Level: Intermediate Prerequisites: none formally required. Brewing Foundation and/or three to six months' experience with automatic and manual filter brewers recommended, as are Introduction to Coffee and Sensory Skills Foundation. Assessment: 40-question written exam, 60 minutes, 70% to pass, plus a 90-minute practical exam, also 70% Certificate: SCA Brewing Intermediate Class size: up to 6 · Price: $950
