SCA Introduction to Coffee (4hr)
It's a SCA program.
Service Description
Introduction to Coffee Hook: One morning or afternoon, and coffee stops being a mystery. Who it's for: Anyone starting out — a new hire in their first week behind the bar, a home enthusiast who wants the whole picture, a roaster's new sales staff. No experience assumed, nothing taken for granted. What you'll do: This is the map of the entire coffee world, drawn in a single session. You'll follow the bean from the farm through processing, export, and roasting to the cup in front of you, and taste your way through the journey as you go — arabica against robusta, natural against washed, light roast against dark. By the end you'll understand why two coffees from the same country can taste nothing alike, what "specialty" actually means as a technical term rather than a marketing one, and where your own work sits in a chain that stretches across the world. Most people leave with more questions than they arrived with. That is the intention. Logistics Duration: 4 hours Level: Foundation Prerequisites: none Assessment: 20-question written exam, 22 minutes, 80% to pass Certificate: SCA Introduction to Coffee Class size: 8 · Price: $230
